Welcome to Arthur Jenkins Fine Art Studio Online!

Art Jenkins was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia.  His artistic career spans more than twenty-five years.  During the past twenty-five years Mr. Jenkins has won numerous awards for his authentic representations of African art through the use of acrylic, pen and ink, charcoal, and pencil mediums.  Most noted accounts of Mr. Jenkins art renditions began in 1970 when Jenkins won first place for an acrylic painting entitled "Still Life".  One year later he was selected as Maggie L. Walker's Best High School Artist.  In 1973, within one year of joining the Air Force, Jenkins won first, second, third and honorable mention for a pencil drawing in the Tactical Airlift Command Art Contest in Austin, Texas.  At the Fort Walton Beach Billy Bowlegs Art Festival, Mr. Jenkins won the Museum Purchase Award for a pen and ink drawing entitled "Mind Expansion", and third place for his acrylic painting entitled "African Warriors".

When Jenkins describes his artistic career, he paints a pretty picture.  "My love of art stretches back to my days in elementary school... Cultural, artistic works go below the surface, and depict the abstract feelings of how people relate to the physical world..."  He wants to touch the hearts and minds of all those who view his work through the beauty of Black Art.  One of Jenkins goals is to encourage young black artists to develop their talents.  "If we can show them (young black artists) what others have done, it may give them the incentive to build their talents."

Arthur Jenkins paintings have been described as beautiful, bold, vibrant with color!  The paintings meld with the warm yellows, deep reds, cool purple hues and blues.  His subject matter is absolutely original spiritually and culturally colorful.  Some of Arthur's paintings depict many human figures and faces with representational designs combining visual meaningful messages.  He sets the mood within the composition of the painting whether it is a sunset, portrait, tribal mask or an inner-vision.  The artist'sintention is successful when the viewer continues to interpret, feel the emotion and see more.  Arthur's softly created charcoal and pastel portraits also compliment the fine technical craftsmanship of his detailed pen and ink drawings.
